Update 7/27/23

Exciting news! All major install work has been completed. We will soon be able to begin our service with Spectrum for cable TV and internet! In the next week or two, Spectrum will be activating the services here in the resort! They will then send out a notice with contact info and, at that time, you will be able to call to open an account and order your service. The resort will also be stuffing your mailbox with a flyer as well. Meeting announcement forthcoming.

Update 6/8/23

Good day everyone! Management met with Spectrum reps this week to review the current status of the project. They have experienced some weather delays since they began, but have brought in extra crews to get back on track. Here is a breakdown of where we stand on completion and details of each phase of work. A completion date in July still looks very achievable!

Phase 1:  85% complete

Drill underground and install main line (approx. 2-3 ft down) and peripherals at ground level (service posts aka taps, amplifiers and power sources)

Phase 2:  15% complete

Install underground “drop” lines (approx. 3-6 inches down) from the service posts aka “taps” to the “outlets” aka gray service boxes at each site.  The outlets are typically installed in very close proximity to the resident home (or at the edge of the concrete slab on RV sites).  This does not require entry into customer homes.

Phase 3:  0% complete

Install cable lines from the “outlets” (gray service boxes) to the individual homes.  This will initially be able to be executed for only those customers who are in the park currently or will be able to provide access to their homes via a third party/caretaker.  Coordinating this will necessitate a park meeting with Spectrum reps available. – We will announce a resort meeting prior to beginning this phase of the project.

Phase 4:  0% complete

Spectrum and Management will coordinate with on-site residents to activate their individual services via blog update and announcements; a meeting may also be held if necessary. Please do not attempt to activate service until we announce this.

Please note:  For annual residents who are not in the park currently (as well as our seasonal clientele) phases 3 and 4 will be completed by a Spectrum technician upon their return to the park and their creation of an account with Spectrum and request for service.  This is how it’s typically executed at your average residential home.

Update 5/18/23

After a few storm delays over the past few weeks, Spectrum is back on track and is currently working in the Manufactured Home section of the resort. To keep on track, they have added another drill and extra crew members.

Update 4/14/23

New cable/internet lines have begun to be installed in the Resort! Here are a few pics of the equipment and installation of the main distribution lines.

Thay are currently in the area directly south of the main office and will be working their way east and north throughout the Value Section on both sides of the boulevard.

We understand curiosity and the urge to know what is going on but, FOR YOUR SAFETY, we ask that you please do not approach workers and keep a safe distance from the work areas.

Please direct any questions about the project to the main office or email jesus_ramirez@equitylifestyle.com

Update 4.6.23

Here are a few pics of the utilities being marked in the value section of the resort. There are multiple techs here doing the marking, so no need to be alarmed if you see them out and about.

Update 3/27/23

Today, Resort Manager Rocky Ramirez met with Spectrum project supervisors to discuss the commencement of the cable internet project in the resort. Preliminary steps were discussed and answers were given to some of the questions that residents submitted.

As we commence this project, here are a few important things that you should know:

  • The install will be handled by Spectrum and their subcontractor, Broadband Telecom Services (BTS)
  • Workers will be identified by safety vests, ID tags and sometimes hard hats.
  • Work vehicles will be identified with logos for Spectrum and BTS
  • Work will be conducted between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday and possibly some weekends
  • The majority of work will be boring underground and will follow the same general path as the current cable plant.

For your safety, we ask that residents refrain from engaging workers during this project and keep a distance from work areas. Please do not occupy empty sites, as we will be providing a report of vacant sites to the work crews for them to park their vehicles and equipment. This should minimize congestion on resort streets.

This first preliminary stage will commence in the value section of the resort, beginning with Sherwood Drive. More details to follow.

Update 3/24/23

We are very excited to announce the Spectrum project will begin on Monday, March 27th.  The objective is to dramatically improve our internet and high definition TV, both in speed and reliability.

Spectrum will begin preliminary work in the resort, beginning with the installation of power supplies and other major components.  You may see a combination of Spectrum workers, as well as other third-party contractors completing this work.  Moving forward, we will release more information as it becomes available.

If you have any questions about this project, please contact the front office or email Rocky Ramirez, Resort Manager at jesus_ramirez@equitylifestyle.com.

FAQ’s

Q: What is a cable distribution system?

A: The cable distribution system is all of the equipment, cabling, connections etc. that carries cable and internet signal to your site, as well as to the public buildings and wifi hotspots. This project entails replacing all of it, top to bottom, resort-wide.

Q: What is included in this upgrade?

A: Faster, more reliable internet, higher resolution and increased compatibility with smart and Hi-Definition TV’s. Also included is a quality Spectrum channel lineup and dedicated music channels. More detailed information to come soon.

Q: Will we need any special equipment due to this upgrade?

A: Yes, if you want to use the cable internet system to its full potential, you will need to open an account with Spectrum and order a cable box for TV and a modem for internet. You may be able to use your own standalone router depending on compatibility with Spectrum equipment. More to come on this soon.

Q: Why do I have to open an account with Spectrum?

A: As stated above, you will need Spectrum equipment to enjoy the upgrade to its full potential. This equipment is owned by Spectrum and will be your responsibility while in your possession. Also, if you have questions or need support services, Spectrum must have an account on file to be able to assist you.

BONUS: With a Spectrum account, you will also be able to order extra channel packages or services for an additional fee (if you so choose).

Q: Do I have to sign a contract?

A: No, there is no contract required and you will only need to close your account and return your equipment at the end of your stay to avoid any penalty fees.

Q: When and how do I open an account?

A: When the project is near completion, an announcement will be made. At that point you will be able to open an account. Spectrum has multiple ways to do this. You can do this online or at a local Spectrum store. You can choose to do self-installation or schedule a technician to help you hook up the equipment as well.

Q: Who will I call if I have question or problems with my service?

A: Once this project is complete, Spectrum will be 100% responsible for cable and internet operation in the resort. Victoria Palms staff will have no authorization or ability to diagnose or repair issues with cable or internet. However, Spectrum customer service is highly reputable and they have many resources for support here in the RGV. More info to come soon.

Q: What if i’m only staying a week or two?

A: For any customers staying less than 30 days, alternative methods of getting cable and internet will be available. More info to come soon.

Q: Who will be communicating with us in the future about project status and updates?

A: Once the project has begun, Spectrum will handle most of the announcements, however, Victoria Palms will also relay information as it is made available to us.

In the meantime, please call the main office or email jesus_ramirez@equitylifestyle.com if you have further questions.

We are excited about this project and we hope you are too!
