USS Kitty Hawk

The USS Kitty Hawk is currently en route to the Port of Brownsville and is scheduled to arrive on or around May 31, 2022.

This three-hour tour includes an informative presentation filled with history on the significance and the impact this carrier has had on the history of the United States. This once-in-a-lifetime experience will be the last opportunity to witness this vessel sailing as it makes its way to its final destination in the Port of Brownsville. Guests are welcome to bring binoculars, cameras, and video equipment to capture this historical event. Dolphins are sure to join us as we pay our final respects.

Please note: Arrival could be as early as May 31, but could be as late as June 7, 2022. The arrival time is dependent on weather conditions and fueling, these factors are out of our control. This tour will more than likely be an early morning departure from South Padre Island. Tickets are non-refundable but can be used for future Port of Brownsville sailings with Breakaway Cruises. Subject to availability.

Friendly reminders about mowing, site improvements, handymen and contractors, DIY projects, etc

Mowing:

Thank you to all of you who mow your lawns regularly… we appreciate you! Just a friendly reminder that we all share a responsibility to keep our lawns and home sites maintained throughout the year. Management will continue to review home sites for compliance and courtesy calls will be placed if your site is in need of attention. This is primarily accomplished via regular drives and at resident request. In accordance with your lease, non-compliance will result in additional fees on your monthly bill. As was discussed in our March Town Hall, please make sure your mowers are keeping up with your site. Due to increased rainfalls year over year, we highly suggest mowing at least twice a month (or once every two weeks). Please don’t forget to spray the weeds in your plant beds and rock yards. This also helps to control the mosquito population.

Site Improvements:

Please remember that all site improvements, including exterior modifications to your homes, must be approved by management prior to commencing your project. Please click the link below for the required site modification form. https://vpractivities.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/vp-site-modification-form.pdf

Handymen and/or professional contractors:

When hiring a handyman or professional contractor to do any kind of work on your lot, please be sure to communicate that they must haul off any and all debris related to their work. There have been instances where we have found construction materials, old water heaters and other debris left in the Craft Center parking lot, stuffed in recycling containers and left on the side of the trash compactor and even on empty lots. This diminishes the beauty and ambiance of the resort and is strictly prohibited. Those contractors who are found doing so will not be allowed to do business in the resort in the future.

DIY projects and home improvements:

We have many talented and experienced residents who choose to do home and site improvement projects on their own. We applaud your abilities and ask that you also haul off any debris or materials related to your improvements, as these will NOT be picked up by maintenance staff.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our resort the most beautiful in all of South Texas!

Please refer to your resort handbook or email victoriapalms@equitylifestyle.com if you have any questions.

Glass truck update 5.9.22

All,

As many of you may remember, we had a short period where the local recycle center refused our glass recycling and we temporarily had to stop. We fought to get them to keep accepting it, however now they are no longer assisting us with the removal of the glass from the truck.

As many of you may know, the container on the back of the truck had a slope to make it easy for the glass to slide out when being emptied. It was built in this manner so that it would easily empty into the bucket of a tractor that was manned by the recycle center. Now, they are no longer allowing us to empty the truck that way nor are they allowing us the use of their tractor.

Please be patient while we reconfigure the glass truck so that we can empty it according their new policy. Thank you.
