Lawn Maintenance Reminders…
It’s a beautiful day at Victoria Palms! The cooler weather is about to begin, the sun is shining and the consistent amount of rainfall over the summer has made the resort green and gorgeous! In keeping with maintaining such a beautiful environment, here are a few friendly reminders about lawn care policies in the resort…
- Please be considerate of your friends and neighbors and cut (or have your lawns cut) on a regular basis…twice a month or every other week seems to be the minimum necessary to maintain a good looking yard. More frequent cuts are certainly encouraged.
- Weed control is crucial – please make sure you are accounting for weeds in your yards. A regularly cut lawn can still look poor if there are tall weed sprouts throughout. Weed control is especially important for rock gardens and accent beds.
- Edging is the finishing touch – Edging your curbs and driveways is the perfect way to finish off a beautiful lawn – even a lawn with taller grass can still look nice with weed control and edging.
- For residents in sections of the resort where the lawns are cut for them, maintenance of lawn accents, flowers beds, etc is required.
In efforts to maintain such a wonderful environment, management does weekly drives throughout the resort. Courtesy calls are placed to residents who may have faltered in maintenance of their lawns. And while – for many – lawns may be maintained by third parties, it is ultimately the leaseholders responsibility to make sure their lawn is maintained. After repeated notices are given and, in accordance with lease terms, management may hire a contractor to bring a lawn back into compliance and a flat fee of $100 per instance will be charged to the leaseholder.
Please join us in maintaining this wonderful place we call home. Together, we can continue to keep Victoria Palms Resort a beautiful place to live.
Clarification regarding garbage service notice…
Happy Thursday everyone!
It has come to our attention that you may have received a notice via US mail in your mailbox regarding a change in garbage service providers. This notice was also posted on the City of Donna’s website. The purpose of this notice is to inform all residents and commercial entities of the City of Donna that the city has discontinued their service contract with one vendor and has contracted with another and that the changeover will happen at the end of this month.
It is not clear why a notice was sent to each individual resident of VP, but we assume that the new provider simply acquired a database of all addresses in the city of Donna and sent a bulk notice out to all of them.
Please disregard this notice. This has no impact on residents of Victoria Palms and you do not need to follow the instructions on the notice. Trash service will continue normally.
Reservation Cancellation Policy – Update!
A special notice for those who have reservations for the upcoming season: In the past, Sept 1st has been the cutoff date for a full refund on your reservation. However, due to the current travel circumstances, our cancellation policy has been modified for greater flexibility. Please contact us directly at 956-464-7801 or toll free at 800-551-5303.
Daily and Weekly Reservations: We allow full refunds for cancellations up to 2 days prior to your arrival date.
Rental Accommodations: We allow full refunds for cancellations 7 days prior to your arrival date for daily and weekly reservations.
Note: For cancellations received less than the required notice period prior to arrival, your deposit will be forfeited up to one night rack rate.
UPDATE: Extended Stays (Seasonal): For long-term reservations (28 days or longer), we allow full refunds for cancellations up to 30 days prior to your arrival date. For cancellations received less than the required notice period prior to arrival, the deposit amount will be held on account (HOA) for a future stay. Cancellation received 5 days or less prior to scheduled arrival date lose their deposit in its entirety.
We hope this provides some additional flexibility and eases some of the concerns that have been expressed regarding travel.
Stray dog
Please be advised, we have trapped a stray dog in the dog park by the Craft Center. This dog park will remain closed until the city has come to retrieve it. Thank you for your patience while we await the city’s retrieval.
Mowing after rainstorms, handymen and contractor reminders, DIY home improvements…
Mowing:
Thank you to all of you who mowed your lawns recently … all that extra rain over the weekend has caused excess growth throughout the park. If you have not had a chance to mow yet or if you are having someone doing your lawn for you, please consider getting this done as soon as possible so that we may all enjoy, to the fullest, the beauty that is Victoria Palms. Please don’t forget to spray the weeds in your plant beds and rock yards. This also helps to control the mosquito population.
Handymen and/or professional contractors:
When hiring a handyman or professional contractor to do any kind of work on your lot, please be sure to communicate that they must haul off any and all debris related to their work. There have been instances where we have found construction materials, old water heaters and other debris left in the Craft Center parking lot, stuffed in recycling containers and left on the side of the trash compactor and even on empty lots. This diminishes the beauty and ambiance of the resort and is strictly prohibited. Those who are found doing so will not be allowed to do business in the resort in the future.
DIY projects and home improvements:
We have many talented and experienced residents who choose to do home and site improvement projects on their own. We applaud your abilities and ask that you also haul off any debris or materials related to your improvements.
Please refer to your resort handbook or email victoriapalms@equitylifestyle.com if you have any questions.

Honoring the victims of Sept 11th and our soldiers deployed around the world…
In remembrance of all those who lost their lives on Sept 11th, 2001, we will be wearing red tomorrow (Friday Sept 10th.) Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of this event. We hope you will join us by wearing something red (a hat, a shirt, a scarf etc) as well.
We are also pleased to announce that, moving forward, we will wear red on Fridays, in honor of our soldiers deployed around the world. R.E.D. stands for Remember Everyone Deployed and wearing red is just small token of our respect and support of all soldiers currently deployed. We encourage you to do the same.

Upcoming weather updates
What a beautiful morning! We’ve been blessed with some great weather in the past few weeks, but please be advised of the chances of rain late this week through next week. Resort staff is prepared for possible flooding and the pumps are in place and ready to be activated. We ask that everyone be vigilant of weather updates and wary of loose items around your home in case of winds or high water. As always, please avoid driving through any flooded streets as this may cause damage to lots and homes. Thank you and stay dry!
