VP Resort update Feb 18th (4pm)

Over the course of the day we have seen that AEP has returned a few more of our circuits to service. And while we are very excited that more of our residents have power, we must still caution everyone about the deep freeze warning that is in effect for tonight. Please consider taking the following precautions to avoid water line breaks that may affect your site or the resort in general:

Unhook hoses from outdoor spigots and/or wrap the spigots with a towel or blanket to help insulate them. Keep water running at a very slight drip, about the size of a pencil tip, to avoid pipes freezing up. If you have heat in your home or rig, open cabinets under sinks and faucets so that your pipes can receive some of that warm air circulation.

We know that there are many experienced RV’ers here, so please spread any additional knowledge you may have with your neighbors to help them avoid a freeze.

In addition to this information we will continue to extend an invitation to all those who remain without power to seek temporary relief in the Craft Center, Activity Building and White House (to cook a hot meal)

The restaurant is still available for free hot coffee until 8pm and the RV showers have hot water and are available 24 hours.

Stay Warm and Stay Safe!

VP Update Thurs Feb 18th

The cold continues! Please stay warm and indoors whenever possible. Here are a few updates for today:

Hot showers are available 24/7 at the RV bathrooms located at the intersection of York, Sheffield and VP Boulevard.

The activity building is open for temporary relief from the cold and the fireplace is roaring! Don’t forget to stop by the library and check out a book or three.

Free hot coffee is available in the restaurant from 8am to 8pm today, or until supplies last. Feel free to charge your cell phones there and a microwave will be available for use.

Cable and Internet is still down in the park, and the offices phones and computers are affected as well. Please contact the gate staff at 956-532-5832 for any maintenance or emergency issues.

The White House will be running on a generator, so the kitchen will be available for use today. Please help us extend the life of the generator and turn off all lights and heat when you leave.

Stay safe and stay warm! We will get through this!

Activity building open tonight

The Activity building will be open tonight for those who need temporary relief from the cold weather. Please abide by the following rules to ensure everyone has as good experience as possible, considering our current circumstances…

Please follow all social distance and face mask protocols while in the building.

While we do not normally allow pets in the building, we are temporarily allowing this considering the circumstances. Please only bring your pet if it is leashed or crated and all pets MUST be walked outside of the building.

If you currently have power in your home or site, please consider enjoying it there and allowing others to use the building.

Please be considerate of others and leave the area clean for others to use.

As an additional reminder, the RV showers are now open 24/7 and hot water is available.

Hot Pizza on us…

We have arranged for a food truck to stop in the park and serve hot pizzas free of charge to residents today at 5pm in the 5000 section. Please be advised of the following:

Supplies are limited; there is only so much pizza dough and sauce that they can carry in their truck. You will have a choice of a cheese or pepperoni pizza. There is a limit of one per household while supplies last.

If you have power and/or the ability to cook at home or on your site, please consider doing so and allow those who do not have power to get a pizza.

Enjoy!

Maintenance staff is on site and available for any maintenance issues that may arise. Please contact the gate staff at 956-532-5832 to report these issues.

Housekeeping is on site and working to clean and restock the facilities. Please allow them to do their work and, if needed, temporarily vacate the room while they clean.

Office and Activity staff are filling in for mailroom staff and mail is currently being placed in boxes. Package pickup is also available until today until 12 noon.

The compactor has been emptied, and roll off containers have been (or have already been scheduled to be) picked up.

Thank you for your patience while we all work together through this difficult time.

Office closure

Due to continued power outage, resort offices will remain closed on Weds, Feb 17th. As residents and staff alike are dealing with power and water outages at their homes and RV’s, we will continue to provide the Craft Center and White House for residents who need temporary relief from the winter weather or to cook themselves a hot meal. Please see previous posts for further details.

Please continue to report emergency situations to the gate staff at 956-532-5832.

Trash Compactor – do not use

As there is no electricity at the moment, the trash compactor by the restaurant is not operational and now we risk an overflow of trash. We ask that you please refrain from using it and instead take your trash to the blue containers located adjacent to the Craft Center inside the fenced area. The maintenance staff has unlocked the access gate to facilitate entry. The recycling bins are also open and available, so please consider recycling as well.

Thank you for your patience as we navigate through these difficult circumstances.

Extended power outage

AEP electrical provider has announced on various social media outlets that these power outages can extend into Wednesday. Please take precautions to stay safe and warm. As announced previously, the Craft Center and White House are available for temporary relief or to cook a hot meal during this time. Please see previous announcements for further details.

Thank you and stay safe and warm.

Craft Center and White House open

Assuming we don’t lose power in the remaining portion of the resort, the Craft Center will remain open through the night for those who need temporary relief from the cold weather.

The White House building, located at the corner of Donna and Plymouth, will also be open through the night for anyone who would like to cook themselves a hot meal, as it has a kitchen with stove and refrigerator. Please provide your own cooking supplies and, out of courtesy to others, leave the area clean for the next person to use. Please also note that the heater control knob is located on the wall next to the restroom, and operates in 1 hour increments.

Please stay safe and warm as we all get through this together.

Resort Offices Closed Monday Feb 15th

Out of an abundance of caution for the most recent inclement weather, all Resort offices will be closed Monday Feb 15th. As it is also Presidents Day, mail and package service will also be unavailable. Also, as previously announced on Friday, outdoor activities are also postponed to later dates. Weather conditions for Tuesday Feb 16th are being closely monitored for future consideration.

Maintenance staff will be on call in the event of an emergency. As per normal policy, please contact the Gate Staff at 956-532-5832 in the event of emergency situations.

Trash collection WILL occur (via third party contractor) beginning at 9am.

Thank you and please stay safe and warm.
