USPS Mail service delay 6.7.22

Please be advised the USPS has still not delivered mail and packages today. This will affect sorting and availability of your mail and packages. Every effort will be made to have all packages sorted and ready as soon as possible… Please be patient with mail staff as they can’t sort what they don’t have.

Thank you for your patience while we await mail delivery.

Activity Center Renovation Update

Please be advised, the Activity Center will be closed this week and through the weekend due to the floor renovation. Much of the old flooring has already been pulled up. Please do not enter the building during this time as various chemicals and adhesives will be on the floor and workers will be laying tile during this process. The Activities Office will be completed sometime next week.

For those who are using the gym, access is still available via the exterior door.

Thank you for your patience while complete this major project…we hope you are pleased with the final result!

Please see original announcement here:

Palm Tree Trimming

Please be advised, the palm trees in the pool area will be trimmed next week on the morning of Monday, June 6th at approximately 8:30am. This typically only takes a day or two to complete. We do not recommend usage of the pool during this time, as falling palms and debris could be a safety hazard. Please also be cautious in the general vicinity of the pool during this time as well. The remainder of the palms in the resort will be trimmed in July.

Thank you for your patience while we complete this project.

Major renovation underway!

Prep work has begun today for a major renovation project in the Activity Center Building. Most of the flooring will be replaced and the old flooring will be removed and replaced with new ceramic tile, with rich brown wood grain pattern. Here are the areas that will get new flooring, in the expected order that they will be completed:

  • VP Restaurant (currently closed for the off season)
  • Activity Lobby
  • Library
  • Both Activity Offices
  • Large Card Room
  • Small Card room
  • Billiards Room
  • Poker Room

The flooring in the Main Office lobby will also be replaced and will be mixed in during this process (dates TBD). The entire project is expected to take 6 – 8 weeks. The contractors will do their best to expedite this process, including working some weekends.

Please expect periodic closures of these areas over the course of this renovation. A roll-off dumpster will be placed in the parking lot during the course of this renovation and may be relocated as the project progresses – this is solely for usage by the contractors.

Below is an example of what the flooring will look like… very similar to what is currently in the Postal Center

Updates will be posted throughout the process. Thank you for you patience and we hope you enjoy the final product!

Craft Center Update

Electricity has been partially restored on the 2nd floor to the Craft Center and the building has been reopened temporarily. Please exercise caution when on the first floor, as it is still without power. We are working with a contractor to restore electricity on the first floor as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience while we work towards 100% restoration.

Memorial Day Trash service and office hours

Friendly reminder, our usual Monday trash service will be postponed to Tuesday due to the Memorial Day holiday. Please do not put your trash out on Monday morning.

Also due to the holiday all offices, including the mailroom, will be closed. This will likely lead to very heavy mail delivery on Tuesday, so we ask for your patience while we catch up.

Craft Center closed

Please be advised, due to electrical issues, the Craft Center building is closed until further notice. There is no electricity in that building. We are working diligently to find a solution over this holiday weekend.

USS Kitty Hawk

The USS Kitty Hawk is currently en route to the Port of Brownsville and is scheduled to arrive on or around May 31, 2022.

This three-hour tour includes an informative presentation filled with history on the significance and the impact this carrier has had on the history of the United States. This once-in-a-lifetime experience will be the last opportunity to witness this vessel sailing as it makes its way to its final destination in the Port of Brownsville. Guests are welcome to bring binoculars, cameras, and video equipment to capture this historical event. Dolphins are sure to join us as we pay our final respects.

Please note: Arrival could be as early as May 31, but could be as late as June 7, 2022. The arrival time is dependent on weather conditions and fueling, these factors are out of our control. This tour will more than likely be an early morning departure from South Padre Island. Tickets are non-refundable but can be used for future Port of Brownsville sailings with Breakaway Cruises. Subject to availability.

Friendly reminders about mowing, site improvements, handymen and contractors, DIY projects, etc

Mowing:

Thank you to all of you who mow your lawns regularly… we appreciate you! Just a friendly reminder that we all share a responsibility to keep our lawns and home sites maintained throughout the year. Management will continue to review home sites for compliance and courtesy calls will be placed if your site is in need of attention. This is primarily accomplished via regular drives and at resident request. In accordance with your lease, non-compliance will result in additional fees on your monthly bill. As was discussed in our March Town Hall, please make sure your mowers are keeping up with your site. Due to increased rainfalls year over year, we highly suggest mowing at least twice a month (or once every two weeks). Please don’t forget to spray the weeds in your plant beds and rock yards. This also helps to control the mosquito population.

Site Improvements:

Please remember that all site improvements, including exterior modifications to your homes, must be approved by management prior to commencing your project. Please click the link below for the required site modification form. https://vpractivities.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/vp-site-modification-form.pdf

Handymen and/or professional contractors:

When hiring a handyman or professional contractor to do any kind of work on your lot, please be sure to communicate that they must haul off any and all debris related to their work. There have been instances where we have found construction materials, old water heaters and other debris left in the Craft Center parking lot, stuffed in recycling containers and left on the side of the trash compactor and even on empty lots. This diminishes the beauty and ambiance of the resort and is strictly prohibited. Those contractors who are found doing so will not be allowed to do business in the resort in the future.

DIY projects and home improvements:

We have many talented and experienced residents who choose to do home and site improvement projects on their own. We applaud your abilities and ask that you also haul off any debris or materials related to your improvements, as these will NOT be picked up by maintenance staff.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our resort the most beautiful in all of South Texas!

Please refer to your resort handbook or email victoriapalms@equitylifestyle.com if you have any questions.
