Storm updates and other important items

Hello all! Well, we’ve had some really great weather the past couple of weeks! I hope everyone has taken time to enjoy themselves! That being said, please be advised that there are currently three (3) storms developing in the Atlantic, with at least one tracking to enter the Gulf of Mexico. We have been sharing posts from local weather sources on our Facebook page to keep everyone updated. It’s still to early to tell what direction it will head once it’s in there, but it never hurts to be prepared. Please review the following post for more information about emergency preparedness:

Emergency Preparedness – Hurricane season is here!

There is plenty of good info there, but here are a few key things to keep in mind:

In case of medical or life threatening emergency, please dial 911.

For all other resort emergencies or issues, please contact the Gate Staff at 956-532-5832. They will contact the appropriate personnel based on the type of emergency. This will ensure the fastest response available. Social media such as Facebook and FB messenger ARE NOT monitored 24/7, so please do not report issues or emergencies via these methods.

Please also review the following documents for contact info for local government entities that deal with natural disasters and emergencies as well as local hospital info and utility service contacts:

Please review the following document for some great info on how to prepare for emergencies such as hurricanes/floods, items to have on hand, evacuation routes out of the resort, etc. It also makes a handy printable booklet.

If you haven’t done so already, please consider registering for our Swift911 Emergency Notification system. Please click the link below for instructions (2nd paragraph):

Aug 3rd updates – Mowing, Recycling and more

Aside form some surprise showers overnight, this weeks weather looks great! We encourage everyone to go out and enjoy themselves in the beautiful weather!

Mowing and Landscaping:

Thank you to all of you who mowed your lawns this past weekend… all that extra rain of the past couple weeks has caused some major growth throughout the park. We did not place courtesy calls last week to give everyone a chance to catch up; we understand that mowing was difficult during that time. Now that the weather has cleared, we will recommence placing courtesy calls. For those who are not currently in the resort and are having someone do your lawns for you, please consider getting this done as soon as possible so that we may all enjoy (to the fullest) the beauty that is Victoria Palms. Please don’t forget the weeds in plant beds and rock yards. This should also help control the mosquito population as well.

Palm Tree Trimming

Please be advised that the annual palm tree trimming project is still underway. Please be cautious around work crews, and keep an eye out for falling palm bark. The project is expected to continue for at least the next two weeks. Thank you for your patience while this annual project is completed

Recycling

Friendly Reminder: Please do not put anything other than recyclables in the red recycling bins – if you are unsure as to what is allowed, there are diagrams on the bins themselves showing you what you can place in there. The bins were moved from the hotel area to the Craft Center parking lot for this very reason, but unfortunately the issue has continued. The most recent items found in the bins were roof shingles and lawn furniture cushions. The driver checks for unauthorized items and removes them, leaving them thrown on the side of the bins. If he continues to find unauthorized items in the dumpsters, he will simply stop picking them up, putting our entire recycling agreement at risk. Please do not be the reason for recycling to end at Victoria Palms.
