It’s that time of year again and the rainy season is upon us. Management has already reached out to the City of Donna to come to the resort to spray for mosquitos. We expect them to complete this within the next week, however we also encourage residents to give them a call. Historically, we have found that the more calls they get from us, the faster they get the job done. The phone number to the City of Donna Public Works Dept is 956-464-6960. Please let them know you live at Victoria Palms and you are requesting mosquitoes spraying in and around the resort.
Also, here as some tips for how to minimize mosquitoes around your home. If you are not currently in the resort, please consider passing this information along to whoever is responsible for maintaining your lawn. Together, we can help minimize mosquitoes in the resort.
Happy Friday to everyone! As hurricane season has begun, we would like to take a moment to provide you with the latest resort info regarding Emergency Preparedness. Please take some time to review the following documents for information such as:
Emergency supplies to have on hand
Preparing your site for a storm
Evacuation routes out of the resort
Contact numbers for local governmental agencies that can assist in times of disaster…and much more!
Click the links below to view and download. Copies of these documents are available in the Activity Center.
Please be on the lookout for upcoming announcements about Emergency Preparedness Meetings which will be held in collaboration with our own dedicated Emergency Preparedness Resident Leaders!
As a reminder, please consider signing up for the Swift911 communication app, (totally free) which is our primary form of communication during times of emergency. This will give you multiple ways to receive emergency communications from the Resort. Hint: Signing up for the text messaging is fine, but the number of characters are limited. For more comprehensive details please also consider registering for the email and voice notifications as well. Please click the link below for detailed instruction on how to sign up for this important app (did we mention it’s free?).
Weather forecasts predict a sunny and beautiful week with possible strong wind gusts most days. We encourage you to get out and enjoy this weather!
Thank you to all of you who mowed your lawns this weekend… all that extra rain of the past couple weeks has caused some major growth throughout the park. For those who are not currently in the resort and are having someone do your lawns for you, please consider getting this done as soon as possible so that we may all enjoy (to the fullest) the beauty that is Victoria Palms. Also, due to the expected wind gusts, please consider securing any loose items that may be outside your home to prevent damage to your home or others.
Also due to the recent storms, we have had some recent issues with the lift stations on Kingston. We have attempted repair, but it seems that the best course of action is full replacement. We have ordered new pumps for the lift station at the Memory Garden and hope to have them installed when they arrive late this week or early next week. We appreciate your patience while we get this resolved.
Please be on the lookout for a separate post dedicated to Hurricane Preparedness – the hurricane season is already upon us and forecasts predict a very busy season!
It looks like we may have some rain showers later today. The maintenance staff has been cleaning out the drains from last night’s rain and preparing for this afternoon/early evening. Please keep in mind, social media such as Facebook and Messenger are not monitored 24/7, so if you need to report any after-hours emergencies such as flooding, please contact the Gate Staff at 956-532-5832 and they will contact the appropriate staff. If there is a medical emergency, please contact 911 first, then contact the gate staff.
Thankfully, it looks like this weekend and next week should be pretty sunny and dry – a great time to catch up on all this grass growth. A huge thank you to all of those residents who have been maintaining nice and trim lawns – we know it has been a challenge with all this extra rainfall and it is very much appreciated. For those who have contractors mowing their lawns for them, please consider having them cut at the earliest possible convenience.
Please be on the lookout for our 2021 Hurricane guide, tips and procedures coming out next week! Have a great weekend and stay dry and safe!
Happy Wednesday folks! It looks like we may get a short break from rain today, but more is expected the remainder of the week. Please stay safe and dry. Also, please be on the lookout for Hurricane Preparedness Info coming soon, as we have now begun Hurricane Season.
Also, we have completed repair work to the access gate by the small laundry. Sections that were rusted out have been repaired and the whole gate has been repainted. See before and after pics below…
Heavy rains expected today. Maintenance staff is checking drains and the water pump is ready to go at a moments notice. Please report all emergencies to the Main Office or, if after hours, to the Gate Staff at 956-532-5832. Thank you and stay dry today!
Please be advised, contractors will be working on the flooring in the mailroom on Sunday 5/30 and Monday 5/31. Access inside the mailroom will be limited. Please exercise caution when entering the mailroom.
Also, due to the Memorial Day observance, there will be no USPS mail delivery on Monday. Mail service will resume on Tuesday, June 1st.
Thank you for your patience while we make improvements.
Good morning all! There is a slight chance of showers and wind gusts today. The drains in the resort are clear and maintenance is on call for emergencies. Please be advised that social media like FaceBook and Messenger are not monitored 24/7, so please contact the Gate Staff at 956-532-5832 in the case of emergency. Thank you and have a great day!
Please be advised, water will be shut off to all sites East of (and including) VP Drive today from 10 AM to approximately 12 noon. Depending on the extent of the repair, water may also need to be shut off for the rest of the resort during this time. Thank you for your patience while we work to repair this issue.
Thank you to everyone who has spent time manicuring their lawns and landscaping… the heavy rains have brought a lot of grass growth and everyone in the community appreciates a well-kept lawn. If you haven’t had a chance to address the grass growth on your site, please do so. If you have a friend or contractor do it for you, please consider having it done this week, as it is very likely we could see more rain in the near future.
There are a couple other small projects our staff is working on in the upcoming days… the rusted out section of the Kingston gate has been replaced and will be painted soon. The peeling paint at the walkway leading to and around the ballroom is being stripped and repainted with multiple coats of paint. Please exercise caution around these areas over the next few days.
Thank you and have a great week, everyone!
This section replaced, whole gate being repaintedFirst coat on walkway leading to ballroom
Another beautiful day in Victoria Palms Resort! Enjoy the wonderful weather if you can!
As of this moment, 95% of brush piles have been collected in the Resort. Our hard working maintenance staff is working to remove some smaller piles today, but we wanted to give everyone one last shot to have brush hauled off by our contractors. Last call for brush collection will be Monday, May 24th. Please complete any remaining trimming/removal of dead brush and pile on your site (or the nearest vacant) site before then.
As we begin what is expected to be a particularly busy rainy season, please consider having your gutters cleaned (pics attached). In these past few storms, there were a number of homes whose gutters were backed up and overflowing into backyards and in between homes. If you choose to install new gutters, please consider pointing them away from your home and towards the nearest street, if possible. This may help to avoid at least some of the standing water on your lot.
Considering the fact that we experienced 3 major storms in 8 days, the resort looks amazing. This is thanks to a dedicated staff and wonderful residents like yourselves doing your part to keep our community looking great.
After some pretty crazy weather (3 storms in 8 days!), we’ve got a beautiful day ahead of us today!
Our dedicated staff is hard at work picking up after the storm. Contractors will be in the resort today picking up a lot of pine bark and debris, however local dump sites are still flooded, so you may see some piles throughout the resort until they re-open. In the meantime, please be careful when walking on the resort streets.
Another friendly reminder…As of April 1st, off-season household trash pickups changed to Mondays only…please do not put your household trash out on Thursdays, as it will not be picked up. The compactor by the restaurant is available for you to use all days of the week.
There is a moderate chance of rain through the weekend, but as for today, it should be gorgeous…enjoy!
Good morning! I hope everyone is doing their best to stay safe and dry. Before the storm today, maintenance staff checked and cleared all street drains to ensure water flow. The storm came down hard and fast at first and has since slowed down, however rainfall continues steadily and flooding in certain parts of the resort has begun to form.
Our dedicated maintenance staff has deployed the use of a water pump to help pump out all of the excessive rain and assist in the continued flow of water drainage. We will continue to monitor the storm until it has completely passed in the next hour or two.
If you do need to venture out, please stay safe and avoid flooded sections of the resort, as this could cause a wake that will push water towards your friends and neighbors homes. If possible, please avoid using the intersection of Kingston and VP Boulevard, as this is the lowest point in the resort and the main exit point of all rain water.
Thank you for your patience while we ride out this storm together.
OK folks it looks like we are going to have some more rain throughout the week and into next week. Just a few reminders as we work through this weather together…
The continued rains are causing a bit of a delay with removal of brush and debris from the resort, as many of the local dump sites are flooded. For now, brush piles will remain on empty sites or other areas out of the way of traffic. You are welcome to add your brush to existing piles on empty sites, but please do not add household trash. Household trash is picked up on Mondays and the compactor by the restaurant is available for you to use all other days of the week.
Maintenance staff will continue to check street drains to ensure they are clear during this time of continued rain. Please help us keep rain water moving by keeping the curb areas clear and not blowing grass or debris into the street when you mow or landscape. You may also want to consider having your mowers do some extra cuts on your lots, as the grass throughout the resort is growing quickly with all the extra rain. It us up to all of us to keep our lot mowed and clean for ourselves and for our friends and neighbors.
If you have driveway ramp and are currently staying in the resort, please make sure the space between the ramp and the curb is clean and clear of debris…this will help the water flow easier and thus drain faster. If you are not currently staying in the resort and your driveway ramp is down, please email us at victoriapalms_mgr@equitylifestyle.com so that we may flip it up for you. If one of your friends or neighbors is willing to do that for you, that would be great also and deeply appreciated.
Once again, thank you for your patience and for being the wonderful community that you are!
